It seems as though you can’t go 10 minutes these days without lathering your hands with whatever sanitizing product is within arms’ reach. If you’re like me, whenever you go into a public space such as a restaurant or office, you immediately use the now omnipresent hand sanitizer dispenser provided at the entrance. And probably some of your own throughout the day for good measure.
But, have you ever thought about what happens if someone in that space was either sick or happened to be an asymptomatic carrier? Even if they use sanitizer or wash their hands, as soon as they cough, wipe their face, or sneeze, they are now re-contaminated and everything they touch is now open for contagion. Many are unaware that as soon as a sanitizer’s alcohol base dries off, its germ-killing effect is over and surfaces are again open to contamination.
The rise of COVID-19 has created all sorts of bad actors coming to the stage attempting to take advantage of our newfound hygiene habits. Many companies have tried to release products that haven’t been tested, don’t comply with proper labeling laws or unfortunately, are just plain fraudulent. In an effort to protect the public, the FDA and CDC have created recommendations on product ingredients that can be used for COVID-19 antibacterial hand sanitizers. Even so, there is a misconception between “certified” products and products that are “compliant.” The FDA has identified three active ingredients necessary for a “compliant” label: isopropyl alcohol, ethyl alcohol, and benzalkonium chloride.
There are benefits and drawbacks to all types of sanitizers, but there’s only one chemical compound on the market that’s scientifically proven to be both long-lasting and non-toxic: Zetrisil® from My Shield®. MyShield®’s active ingredient is benzalkonium chloride, however, it goes even further to offer sustained protection with a patented ingredient called Zetrisil®. Independently tested and used for over a decade, Zetrisil® has been proven to have a 99.99% germ-kill rate on a wide variety of harmful germs and continues to kill for up to 28 days on surfaces and 24 hours on the skin.
The magic of Zetrisil® is that it doesn’t rely on alcohol or any toxic chemicals to kill bacteria and viruses. Zetrisil®’s nano-silicon molecular structure bonds to surfaces, creating a layer of positively charged spikes. Any negatively charged microorganisms, such as harmful bacteria and viruses, are pulled toward the barrier and are then pierced and electrocuted. This immediate mechanical kill stops the ability for these germs to create resistance that creates superbugs that would otherwise occur with conventional sanitizers.
So if you are wondering why we are so excited about our products, it really comes down to three things that matter most to us. Firstly, they kill the virus effectively. Secondly, they establish lasting protection, eliminating the need for constant application. And third, they are earth-friendly and won’t create a downstream of other problems in our environment or superbugs that create a whole new battle in the future. It gives us peace of mind knowing that these products give our clients and their customers the confidence to continue operating safely throughout the current pandemic and beyond.
